L’ANSE — In a year of national and state birthday bashes–the Constitution’s bicentennial and the sesquicentennial of Michigan’s statehood–add a local celebration to the list. L’Anse High School is celebrating its 100th birthday with a three-day bash July 31 and August 1 and 2, according to Karen Pakkala. Pakkala and a small committee have been putting the reunion/party together. Getting LHS alumni and retired employees to the affair has been a major task. “We have invited all past graduates,” she said. That includes a registration response from a member of the LHS class of 1917. “We have somewhere around 1,430 people registered.”
