MARQUETTE — Marquette’s Everyday Wines and Zephyr Wine Bar Cafe have made it their mission to share their love and knowledge of great wine with others.

The staff at Everyday Wines, located at 129 W. Baraga Ave., focuses on bringing the community a curated selection of affordable, high-quality wines.

“We focus primarily on wines that are under $25 but still adhere to a set of rules and values,” said Marcella Krupski, general manager at Everyday Wines and Zephyr Wine Bar.

Everyday Wines aims to take the guesswork out of wine selection by helping customers find the ideal wine for their taste, budget, and occasion.

“Finding the absolute highest quality of wine at that price is what we do and why it’s worth stopping by and seeing what we have because we’ve curated it down to this really great selection of wines,” said Daniel Rutz, owner of Everyday Wines and Zephyr Wine Bar Cafe.

In addition to wine, the store also features a distinctive beer selection, splurge-worthy champagnes, stemware, and decanters, as well as unique sweet and savory treats.

The inspiration for Zephyr Wine Bar and Cafe, they said, came from customer requests and input at Everyday Wines.

From the seating and decor to the wine and food, Zephyr, located at 215 S. Front St., was designed around creating an inviting experience that allows customers to try and learn about a wide variety of wines.

“Our whole philosophy for the wine bar is aimed at throwing away a lot of the snobbery associated with wine,” Krupski said.

A key part of this is “demystifying” the wine selection process by providing helpful background information about each offering, and having staff available to help patrons select their ideal wine.

“We try to make it easy to try new things,” Rutz said.

With a wide variety of by-the-glass wine offerings, patrons of Zephyr can explore many selections.

“We’ve ended up with the largest by the glass wine list in Michigan, possibly the midwest … that allows someone to explore across the entire world, scores of different grape types, all kinds of different prices, in a really comfortable, easy way,” Rutz said.

In addition to wine, Zephyr features classic, old-fashioned cocktails and a unique selection of beers on draft and in the bottle.

Beyond libations, Zephyr also offers lunches that are made to order from scratch, as well as a variety of savory plates.

The menu features “simple, good food” such as exceptional soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as European-inspired cheese and charcuterie plates, all of which can be paired with a wine, beer, or non-alcoholic beverage selection, Rutz said.

In addition to savory offerings, Zephyr Wine Bar Cafe also features unique desserts that are “among the best in town,”along with great coffee and espresso.

With the addition of lunches at Zephyr, the hours have now expanded to 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon – 10 p.m. Sundays. Zephyr is closed Mondays. Call 906-273-0740 or visit zephyrmqt.com for more information.
