Wild fire near Craig Lake

BARAGA -- At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, a fire was spotted near Craig Lake in Baraga County.

As of Friday morning, the fire had grown to 16 acres. A fire specialist from the Marquette Department of Natural Resources said that the fire is being fought "aggressively," but that there are concerns about firefighter safety due to the ruggedness of the terrain.

Dry, windy conditions this weekend could exacerbate the fire. More information can be found in Saturday's edition of The Mining Journal.
