Rep’s votes raise questions
To the Journal editor:
Dear Representative Jack Bergman,
I have reviewed your biography, which emphasizes that “Jack’s life has been dedicated to service and defending the Constitution.” President Trump has violated the Constitution on several occasions. Given your experience as a retired Lieutenant General, I would expect you to recognize those actions ,such as, the bombing of Venezuela without congressional approval constitutes a clear violation of the Constitution. Yet, during these events, you chose to remain silent.
You currently serve on the House Armed Services Committee and the Veterans’ Affairs Committee in the 117th Congress. Additionally, you are the lead Republican on the Veterans Administration Subcommittee on Health. These roles provide you with firsthand knowledge of the critical importance of quality health insurance for your constituents.
Despite this, you voted “No” twice on the Affordable Care Act and did not offer any amendments or propose alternative solutions. In this matter as well, your silence was noted. It is predicted that insurance premiums will drastically rise, including your constituents who may be unable to afford health insurance.
Your biography also states you are “… shaking up the status quo in both Congress.” Please tell us how you are doing that? To whom are you loyal?
