Baraga County chamber calls for Business of the Year nominations
L’ANSE — The Baraga County Chamber of Commerce has announced that nominations are now open for its annual Business of the Year Award, honoring a chamber member business that demonstrates a continued passion for excellence, responsible leadership and community harmony.
Nominations are open through Feb. 1. Community members are encouraged to nominate a chamber member business. Unsure whether a business is a chamber member? No problem. Simply submit your nomination and the chamber will verify eligibility.
“This award is about more than recognizing business success, it’s about celebrating the businesses that make Baraga County a stronger, more vibrant place to live and work,” said Debbie Stouffer, board president of the Baraga County Chamber of Commerce. “We encourage everyone to take part in the nomination process and help us honor the businesses that truly embody the spirit of our community.”
Nomination submissions should include:
• Name of the business being nominated
• Description and reasons why the business deserves recognition
• Name and contact information (address, phone, email) of the person making the nomination
• Or contact the chamber for a nomination form at baragachamberoffice@gmail.com

Award criteria
When nominating, consider businesses that:
• Create a positive impact through job creation, increased sales, or property improvements
• Support community initiatives that enhance quality of life in Baraga County
• Actively participate in Chamber events and activities
• Have earned industry awards or leadership recognition
• Demonstrate superior business development, marketing, and customer service
• Provide outstanding products or services
• Or, exemplify any other qualities that reflect the spirit of this award
Voting and recognition
After nominations are collected, a ballot will be prepared. Voting will take place in person at the Chamber Annual Meeting & Member Appreciation Banquet on February 19, 2026.
The winning business will receive:
• A commemorative plaque
• Promotion across Chamber social media channels
• A press release shared with local media
• A complimentary 2025-2026 Chamber Business Level Membership (valued at $175)
