MARQUETTE – As hundreds of students poureded through Fall Fest at Northern Michigan University Monday, none may have been more ecstatic than those who operated the student organization tables there.

“I am so excited for the start of the year,” said Kendyl Dahlstrom co-production manager of NMUDoIt, a student run theater production company at NMU that organizes its own show from the bottom up. “Our group is NMUDoIt. We are a student theater production company. We are set up with the goal to allow students to perform, students to direct, students to produce, students to design their own production, productions that already exist or their own cabaret style show pieces. Relatively everything.”

NMUDoIt has only been around for two years yet it has put on a great many performances including a two-hour musical with a full pit, which was manned by community members and students.

“We are not attached to the theater department,” said Dahlstrom. “So non theater majors can join, direct and more. We are still looking at applications for those wanting to produce for next semester … Its NMUDoIt, you get to choose what you want.”

NMUDoIt is active on NMU’s Hub as well as Instagram under the name NMUDoIt.

“People can see what we are up to on the Hub or more frequently updated is our Instagram,” said Dahlstrom.

Fall Fest is a showcase of local businesses, NMU departments but also showcases the passion of student organizations.
