Frederick Leopold

SAN ANTONIO, TX-With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Frederick ‘Fred’ Nicholas Leopold, age 74, on November 6, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, after medical complications.
A devoted father, Opa, friend, and dedicated professional, Fred left a lasting impact on many.
Born in Detroit, Michigan, on September 27, 1950, to Frederick Leopold III and Sara Leopold, Fred grew up in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan and later moved to Marquette, Michigan. He built a career in emergency medical services and cath lab technology. He served with Detroit Fire EMS, led Marquette General Hospital EMS, worked in the MGH Cath Lab, and later contributed to the San Antonio Baptist Medical System. Through his work, he touched countless lives and made a lasting mark in healthcare.
In retirement, Fred found joy in attending his grandsons’ sporting events and moderating Facebook groups where he shared his love of music, food, and political discourse. He connected with many online, offering friendship, humor, and nightly posts of his pets and home-cooked meals.
He is survived by his children: Eric (Jessica) and their son Cyrus; Emily (Daniel) and their sons Jack and Luke; and Mary (Rijo), who are expecting a child; cousin Vera (David); uncle Ron; cousin Gretta and countless friends, including his dear friend Tracy. He is also survived by his beloved cats, Pinot and Grigio, who brought him joy and companionship.
He was predeceased by his parents and his cherished donkey, Brahma.
A celebration of life will be held on July 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Stucko’s Pub in Marquette, Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal rescue in his honor.
Fred’s warmth, generosity, and humor made him beloved. Though his passing leaves a void, his memory will endure.
