Repair of the Misery River Bridge complete

TWIN LAKES - Volunteers from the Michigan Trails and Recreation Alliance of Land and the Environment and the Superior Snowmobile Club banded together recently to complete initial repairs on a section of the Bill Nicholls trail spanning Misery River which had been recently damaged due to weather.
"The bridge received these temporary repairs today to put an end to the inconvenience of the closure," said Donna Wolf, MI-TRALE Communications chair. "The route is now open for use."
While further repairs will need to be completed at a later date by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, the volunteers' work allowed for the section of trail to reopen for use, which this time of year consists mostly of recreational ORV riding.
"(The Bill Nicholls) trail runs through several communities and the recreationists generally make a stop for gas and/or refreshments at some point and put their dollars into that community’s coffers," said Wolf. "Every little bit helps our U.P. economy."
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the volunteers from both the Superior Snowmobile Club and MI-TRALE for making this repair happen," said Don Hesel, president of MI-TRALE. "It’s great to see what can be accomplished when proactive groups work together. Please become a member of these clubs! And remember to always ride right and ride safe.”
