EMT/An ambulance was called. An Ambulance arrived.

Medicated brought to the emergency entrance at UPHS/MGH.

Checked in, introduced to monitors and medical staff.

De booted, de bluejeans.

Blood drawn, I ed, wired by small sticky discs and X-rayed.

“We take care of you. Keep breathing.”

Beeps at regular intervals. Wavy lines on a screen.

“Well the good news is, you didn’t break your hip.”

…medicated but alert during the transport closing in on the ‘theatre’

Anesthetized, intubated, operated on.

“Well you’re all done here. Let’s get you up to your room.

Festooned with tubes and wires over and under and through an open back hospital gown with inflating compression tubes. Yves St. Laurant ain’t got nothin on this get up.

Cared for with great care, for a couple of weeks, transitioned to UPHS/Bell Memorial Swing Bed after having a couple of intro sessions of P.T.O.T.

Round the clock care at Bell that included regular P. T. and O.T.for a couple more weeks when progress determined a discharge date.

As the parking lot exit neared I was struck by the thought of leaving this protective, safe place where housekeeping was not my responsibility and nourishing well prepared meals were brought to me.

I had met all levels of hospital staff, from leadership to maintenance.

All the extras in this live performance did the jobs they were more than qualified for. The show can’t go on without all of the unsung who know what their jobs are and are quite obviously up to it. No explainers or justifications needed for them. They all know what they are there to do; day in and day out (many for 12+ hrs. a shift).

Within split seconds they confer, make decisions and act. Anyone of them could right the course of what’s going on in this country/ be “fit to govern

Facts can’t change by ignoring facts or having had details left out to convey an untruth. This country is money rich in some select sectors and food is grown in abundance in some parts of the world (duh easy enough to see when grocery shopping) and nostalgia for some long gone statesman leaves out the values stated.

No one stinted at the hospitals. They are up to their jobs.
