Old Town group to give tour
NEGAUNEE — The Protect Old Town Negaunee group will be guiding a tour of the five acres of Old Town at 10 a.m. July 14, meeting at Cyr and Snow streets, where the Jackson Mine Park Jim Thomas Pavilion parking lot is located.
Negaunee voters will be able to vote on the status of these five acres on Aug. 6. Voting yes will allow the land to stay in the public domain while voting no will allow the city to sell the land to a private developer to turn into housing.
Protect Old Town Negaunee would like this gem of an area to remain community owned and stay in the public domain.
During the tour, Jeff Plummer will be discussing the cultural, historical, and recreational significance of the area and Lanni Lantto, of U.P. Wild Church, will be discussing the spiritual significance.
