Daniel Frederick Platt

MARQUETTE, MI- Daniel Frederick Platt, 66 , of Marquette, passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, at his home.

Daniel was born June 9, 1957 in Great Lakes, IL, the son of Leonard Arthur and Marcella Anna (Fallmer) Platt. He lived in a number of places while growing up, moving to Michigan in 1967 where he resided in Ann Arbor and Dexter. He was a 1976 graduate of the Dexter High School. Daniel moved with his parents to Marquette in September 2001. He was employed through Pathways, working with the Meals on Wheels program at the Lost Creek kitchen site.

Daniel was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he was an altar server, and was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post #44. He enjoyed riding his bicycle, walking, playing his records, attending NMU hockey games and he was a fan of Michigan sports teams.

Survivors include his niece, Susan (Jason) Neumeier of Escanaba and a nephew, James Harrington of Petoskey, MI; great-nieces & nephews, Luke, Ben and Jacob Anthony, Annabelle, Irene, Ulric Neumeier and Miles Harrington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerry Harrington.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 12 Noon to 1 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. A service will be held in the church at 1 pm with Rev. Bob Railey officiating. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Special Olympics.
