MARQUETTE — It’s official: the City of Marquette Office of Arts and Culture and the Peter White Public Library are now accepting exhibit proposals for the 2025 season of the Public Gallery Program.

The program aims to provide an exhibit space that is inclusive and accessible for artists and audiences alike. Artists and curators from all walks of life, ages and backgrounds are encouraged to submit their exhibit proposals free of charge.

Two distinct gallery spaces located in the PWPL — the Deo Gallery and the Huron Mountain Club Gallery — will host bimonthly rotating exhibits featuring both professional and community art in all mediums. Both galleries are free and open to the public anytime PWPL is open.

Marquette’s Office of Arts and Culture Communications & Marketing Coordinator, Amelia Pruiett, said the Huron Mountain Club Gallery on the main floor of PWPL is more about emerging artists and community exhibits.

“The Deo Gallery is largely reserved for professional artists,” Pruiett said on the lower level gallery. “We’re looking for a little higher caliber of theme in the application proposal.”

Across the two galleries, there are seven exhibit spots — each of which will showcase one artist’s work for two months before moving onto the next artist.

“This public gallery program is a partnership that is leveraging the two different efforts of the City of Arts and Culture as well as the Peter White Public Library’s efforts to bring formal gallery space that is accessible for not just artists but the community to vist these galleries,” Pruiett said.

Interested parties should submit their applications by March 31. Details are available on the Marquette Compass website or in-person at the Arts and Culture Center in the lower level of PWPL.
