Susan Powell Moore

MARQUETTE, MI – Susan Powell Moore, aged 85, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a 10-month battle with Cancer.

She was born March 13, 1938 to Lucius LeClere and Helen Olivia Powell in Rochester, New York. After World War II her family settled in Huntington, West Virginia where she went through school, graduating from Huntington High School in 1956. After graduation she enrolled at the University of Michigan where she met the love of her life and future husband Robert “Bob”ù Moore. They were married on January 23, 1959. The early years of their marriage saw much traveling while Bob finished his education. She maintained the household, raising their two young daughters and eventually settled in Marquette, Michigan in 1969. In 1982 she completed her bachelor’s degree at Northern Michigan University in Office Administration. She managed Bob’s Psychology Practice in Marquette until retirement. Her biggest joys were spending time with her best friend and soul-mate Bob and her family. She loved to travel and they experienced many adventures together.

Susan was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Marquette. She enjoyed spending time with her church family and the many church functions she participated in.

There are many ways to describe Susan. She found her strength and perseverance in Jesus Christ, her savior. She was God fearing, strong, courageous and loyal; a true warrior. Her demonstration of fearlessness and willingness to submit to God’s will has left a forever impression on all our lives.

She is survived by her daughters Sheryl “Sherri” (Jim) Rule, Patricia “Tricia” (Dan Klumb) Moore, two granddaughters Erin Rule and Allison (Stephen Hare) Rule all of Marquette, her brother William “Bill”ù (Helen) Powell of Houston, TX, sister Sara (Del) Dahl of Champaign, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins. After 54 years of marriage, she was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 2013.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bethel Baptist Church on Thursday, December 7 at 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. Senior Pastor Brock Youngren will officiate. Lunch will immediately follow the service in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to UPAWS (Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter), The Wounded Warrior Project, or Samaritan’s Purse.
