Ladies shop the day away
Record high temperatures made it a great time for ladies to take over downtown Marquette during Thursday’s Ladies Day Out. The Marquette Downtown Development Authority extended the event, which is traditionally held in the evening, to last all day and all night in order to give shoppers a greater opportunity to take advantage of holiday deals. Marquette businesses offered specials and other experiences during the annual event that honored women in the area. The Ladies Day Out Passport program was also available to participating shoppers. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Women’s Center, where counseling, education and advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse is provided. Items such as paper products, cleaning supplies and toiletries were also collected at several businesses. The items will be given to the Women’s Center Harbor House. Pederson said the night has been fun. “I love when ladies are celebrated,” Pederson said. During Ladies Night Out, 10% of sales are donated to The Women’s Center. (Journal photo by Dreyma Beronja)
