Marquette City Band to perform

MARQUETTE –The Marquette City Band, directed by Stephen Grugin, will present “A Fourth of July Concert” at 2 p.m. Saturday at the band shell in Presque Isle Park. The original release said 7:30 p.m.

The benches in the park have been spaced six feet apart and the audience members are requested to maintain proper social distancing if bringing their own chairs or blankets. All persons attending are also asked to wear masks.

The program will feature patriotic music, national marches and popular songs, particularly from the WW II era. The wide variety of selections includes the following: “An American Fanfare” by Rick Kirby; “Strike Up the Band” by George and Ira Gershwin; “National Emblem March” by E.E. Bagley; “An American Spectacular” by Chris Sharp; “El Capitan March” by John Philip Sousa; “The Homefront: Musical Memories from World War II” arr. by James Christensen; “Armed Services Medley” arr. by R. Cray; “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood; “Seventy-Six Trombones” by Meredith Willson; and “The Liberty Bell March” by John Philip Sousa.

The concert is free and open to the public.
