Rankinen, Moyle pace Tino’s

ISHPEMING — Katie Rankinen tripled while going 3 for 4 and teammate Taryn Moyle doubled to lead Tino’s to a 10-9 victory over Screened Image/Venice 2 in Class A of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on May 22.
Tammy Karp was 4 for 4 for Screened/Venice.
In another Class A game, Abbie Salisbury went 3 for 4, including a homer, and knocked in six runs to help Heritage Glove Repair fly past Sisters 19-7.
The winners’ Steph Robar went 4 for 5, while Sisters’ Jesse Rosten and Sandie Baysore each were 2 for 4.
Courtney Waara homered and hit two triples while going 4 for 4 in Cognition Brewing Co.’s 25-1 drubbing of Riverside Club.
Teammate Amanda Harlock was also 4 for 4 with three doubles and four runs scored, while Nicolette Schultz and Terri Tammelin each homered and doubled.
In addition, the winners’ Bean Frye was 4 for 4 and Molly Wales 4 for 5 as each scored four times, Megan Kinnunen was 3 for 4 and Mandie Meyer and Terri Todd each hit a double.
Nicole Christensen hit a triple and two doubles while going 4 for 5 in a 27-7 win posted by Buck’s Party Store over Jasper Ridge Brewery.
Buck’s Libby Nelson went 5 for 5, while Jasper’s Erica Bjorne and Steph Abata both tripled while going 3 for 3.
In Class C, Mara Couch and Elaina Treloar both homered and teammate Jaime Kibler was 4 for 4 as OSS outscored the Negaunee Eagles 20-12.
The Eagles’ Nancy Laine hit a homer, while Micailly Carlson and Chastity Ellet each tripled.
Mary Peterson was 4 for 4, Toni Tikkanen 3 for 4 with two triples and Livvie Wood 3 for 4 with a homer in Pineshears’ 20-14 win over Willey’s Tire Shop, which saw Caitlin Hewitt hit a grand slam homer.
Valerie Prusi and Renee Caya each homered in U.P. Fabricating’s 23-13 win over Marquette Embroidery, which saw Heather Sandstrom and Amy Peters both triple as Sandstrom went 3 for 3.
Macey Nault hit two triples and a double to lead Jack’s Teepee to a 17-0 blanking of Bertucci Construction, whose Kinsie Bertucci was credited for great plays at shortstop.
Winning pitcher Kathy Gischia kept down the runs in Palomaki Family Chiropractic’s 22-4 win over River Rock Lanes.
In Class B, Kim Koski, who tripled, and Staci Spencer each went 3 for 3 in Brogie’s 10-8 nailbiter over Venice.
The winners’ Hilary Richardson was 2 for 2, while Venice’s Becky Lee and Shari Mahoski both doubled.
Lani Belton and Bethy Finnila each homered in Signs Unlimited’s 13-9 victory over Quality Car Care, which got a triple from Becky Moyle and 3-for-4 day from Sarah Amis.
Tera Bell and Mel Bess each homered as Bell was 4 for 4 and Bess 4 for 5 in a 23-11 win posted by Dave’s Collision over Pasquali’s, which saw Alana Nuorala go 3 for 4 with a triple.
Cassidy Krueger was 4 for 4 with a homer in Globe Printing’s 22-3 win over Paradise Bar, whose Megan Menard was 2 for 2.
Ally Solander went 6 for 6 with a triple to lead Buster’s to a 29-1 thumping of Martin Sports. Martin’s Carley Maki was 2 for 2 while Joanne Smail doubled in two at-bats.
