Frisk powers Pasquali’s to one-run victory

NEGAUNEE — Nikki Frisk went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles to lead Pasquali’s to a narrow 9-8 victory over Signs Unlimited in Class B of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 19.

Teammate Tracy LaJoie also went 3 for 3 while Megan Blixt contributed a double as Signs’ Lani Belton tripled and Liz King and Val LaChapelle each doubled.

In another “B” game, Libbie Doney and Faith Toutant both homered as Dave’s Collision downed Martin Sports 18-11. Doney was 3 for 4 and Toutant 2 for 4 as Martin’s Ashley Asgaard homered, tripled and chalked up four RBIs.

Cassidy Krueger, who homered, Amie Axford, Chelsea Pekrul and Neily Collick each went 4 for 4 to lead Globe Printing to a 22-6 win over Brogie’s, whose Brylea Ranta homered.

Krista Squiers homered and added two triples as Buster’s posted a 24-4 whomping of Paradise Bar, whose Jess Harper and Stacey Stone each were 2 for 2.

Erin LaValley hit two doubles while going 3 for 4 and Lori Ring was 4 for 4 as Quality Car Care blew up for a 15-3 win over Venice, whose Nichi Sundberg tripled and Caylie Gray doubled.

In Class A, Amber Buckmaster went 4 for 4 and Sue Rice 3 for 3 with a double as Buck’s Party Store pulled out a 12-11 victory over Screened Image/Venice 2. Screened’s Nicole Gustafson was 4 for 4 with a homer and two doubles, while teammate Hannah Holma went 3 for 4.

In another “A” contest, Chelsie Wealton was 4 for 4 and Brandi Logan 3 for 4 as Heritage Glove Repair posted a 23-5 win over Riverside Club, which got three RBIs from Vanessa Briones and a hit from Jordan Kowalski.

Ashley Nylander homered in Sisters’ 21-18 nailbiter over Jasper Ridge Brewery, whose Erika Bjorne twice homered and Amber Emanuelson tripled.

Nicolette Shultz, Brigette LaPointe and Terri Todd each homered in Cognition Brewing Co.’s 14-7 victory over Tino’s. The winners’ Courtney Waara was 4 of 5, Megan Petros 3 of 4 and Molly Wales hit a double. Tino’s Taryn Moyle went 3 for 3 with a triple while Katie Rankinen was 2 for 3.

In Class C, Brianna Vickstrom was 4 for 4 with two homers to support winning hurler Sue Bazinette in the Negaunee Eagles’ narrow 11-10 victory over Bertucci Construction.

The winners’ Amber Nault was 3 of 4, while Bertucci’s Rachel Anderson was 5 for 5 and Kinsie Bertucci 3 of 5 while being cited for phenomenal play at shortstop.

In another “C” contest, Ann Herman, who doubled, and Lisa Wood each were 3 of 3 as Pineshears gutted out a 16-15 victory over OSS. The winners’ Mary Peterson went 3 of 4, while OSS’ Jess Taylor cracked three homers and Mara Couch and Kristen Utzman cranked two roundtrippers apiece.

Caitlin Hewitt, Beckey Grove and Amy Williams each were 5 for 5 as Willey’s Tire Shop thumped U.P. Fabricating 30-12. Hewitt and teammates Monica Cox and Miranda Cobb all homered, while UPF’s Kyla Espanol-Aragon went 5 for 5, Renee Caya 4 for 5 with a homer and Rachael Mager 3 for 3 with a triple.

Liz Beauchamp and winning pitcher Madison Pruett each homered while Jen Flynn was 3 for 3 as Palomaki Family Chiropractic scored a 15-9 win over Marquette Embroidery, which saw Amy Young go 4 for 4.

Macey Nault, Liz Farley and Marissa Carello all homered as Jack’s Teepee posted a 16-1 win over River Rock Lanes, whose Casey O’Connor was cited for her pitching prowess.
