Holma gets walkoff RBI  in Screened Image win

ISHPEMING — Hannah Holma went 3 for 4 and picked up the walkoff, winning run batted in as Screened Image edged Buck’s Party Store 10-9 in Class A of the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 14.

Teammate Mariah Dunham was 4 for 4 while Meagan Petros was 3 for 4. Buck’s Kathy Hill and Nikki Christensen each went 3 for 4.

In another one-run game in Class A, Sue Rice and Sheri Wooden both homered as Jubilee Foods slipped past Honkala Construction 17-16. Honkala’s Laura L’Esperance also hit a home run.

Amber Emanuelson made what observers termed a game-changing catch in left field to lead Jasper Ridge Brewery to a 17-9 win over Martin Sports. Teammates Erika Bjorne, who hit two doubles, and Alyssa Bjork, who had a triple, each went 4 for 4, while Destiny Bullard added a homer in a 2-for-3 night.

Martin’s Julie Botwright was 3 for 3 while Cortney Caliguri, Joanna Smail and Veronica Slone all were 2 for 3.

Megan Schober hit a three-run homer over the fence as Cognition Brewing Co. ground out a 7-0 shutout of Sister’s, which got two hits from Linda Dompierre.

Ashley Pietro went 5 for 5 and Chelsie Wealton had four hits including a homer in Venice 1’s big 27-1 victory over Crossfit 906. Crossfit’s Kim Koski, who doubled, and April Lawer each had two hits.

In Class B, Lori Rivord hit two doubles, Becky Moyle homered and Gina Debelak had a triple in Quality Car Care’s 22-21 nailbiter over Eagles, whose Micailly Carlson went 5 for 5 and Amy Bazinette was 4 for 5.

In another close game, Mikayla Miilu went 3 for 3 with a double as Pasquali’s held off Yooper Shirts 7-6. Yooper’s Loretta Willey had three hits, including a double.

Lisa Carlson went 4 for 5 with two doubles, Lillee Martin hit a grand slam homer and Libbie Doney also homered in a 21-3 win posted by Dave’s Collision over Jack’s Teepee 1. Jack’s Natalee Dobson was 3 for 3.

Winning pitcher Becky Gauthier helped her own cause by going 3 for 4 as Signs Unlimited held off Buster’s 20-17. Buster’s Brandi Anderson was 5 for 5 while Colie Ball was 4 for 5.

Josey Moyle and Katie Rankinen each went 3 for 3 to lead Tino’s to a 16-0 shutout of Venice 3.

In Class C, Toni Tikkanen hit a grand slam and Heidi Verville was 5 for 5 to lead AAA Insurance to a 24-3 win over U.P. Fabricating, which had Renee Caya go 3 for 3 and Alyse Schaeffer 2 for 3.

Amy Richards, Maria Stanaway and Lynn Ball all went 4 for 4 to lead Paradise to a 26-8 win over Marquette Embroidery, which got a homer from Shauna Annala and triple from Katie Menard.

Nichol Trego went 5 for 5 and Brianna Lynch hit a three-run double as River Rock Lanes posted a 21-11 win over Jack’s Teepee 2. Holly Loukkala, who had a triple, and Chantel Fernades both homered for Jack’s.

Anna Chipman and Cheryl Churack each homered while Ellen Sundberg had a triple and double to lead U.P. Health Plan to a 14-4 win over Wooden Nickel, which saw Bethany Firby go 3 for 3 and Abby Letts go 4 for 4 and be cited for great defense catching.

Kinsie Bertucci and Hannah Bertucci each tripled in Bertucci Constructions’ 15-6 win over Willey’s Tire Shop. Beckey Grove, Caitlin Hewitt, Brooke Bleckler and Krystal Heikkinen all doubled for Willey’s.

Krystal Foster and Jenn Quayle homered in support of winning pitcher Kathy Gischia as QCPFC defeated Venice 2, though no score was available. Venice’s Mara Marton and Kristen Utzman also homered.
