Dave’s Collision hands Quality Care first loss of season

ISHPEMING – Dave’s Collision handed Quality Car Care its first loss of the season, 21-19, in a Class B game in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on June 29.

Leading Dave’s was Jamee Roose going 4 for 4 with a homer, Shelly Roose 3 for 4 with a triple and double, Mel Bess with a homer and Arica Altobello going 3 for 3.

Quality’s Doni Hernandez went 3 for 3 with two homers.

In other Class B games, Venice 3 took over second place with a 6-1 win over Martin Sports. Becky Lee tripled for the winners while Ashley Talus and Veronica Slone were 3 for 3 and Jamie Caliguri 2 for 3 for Martin.

Megan Mattson and Macey Mahoski both were 2 of 3 with a triple as Jack’s TeePee 1 edged Paradise, 9-8. Rachel Fredrick was 3 for 3 with a double for Paradise.

In another one-run game, Toni Enrietti hit the winning homer and Chelsey Roberts collected a triple and double in AAA Insurance’s 15-14 win over Signs Unlimited. Nicole Chapman, who homered, and Becky Gauthier each were 3 for 4 for Signs.

Mia Storm homered in a 12-7 win by Honkala Construction over Pasquali’s.

In Class A, Venice 1 remained undefeated with a 21-0 win over Crossfit 906. Niki Pfluger had six RBIs and Beth Christianson and Steph Robar each had three hits for the winners, while Katie Richer had two hits for Crossfit.

Megan Reilly was 4 for 4 as Cognition Brewing also stayed unbeaten with a 10-3 victory over Jubilee Foods, which got a 2-for-3 game from Courtney Finkbeiner.

Kelly Hebert, who tripled, and Anna Dompierre, who had two doubles, each went 3 for 3 in Sisters’ 11-9 win over Jasper Ridge Brewery. Jasper’s Erika Roberts hit a homer over the fence among two hits, while teammates Taylor Watters, who homered, Sarah Rautio, Amber Emanuelson and Alyssa Bjork all went 3 for 4.

Screen Image blanked Cliffs Natural Resources 19-0 as the winners’ Nicki Schultz, who had four RBIs, and Gabby Hebert each were 4 for 5.

Shannon Clemo went 3 for 3 and teammate Sara Polini 2 for 3 in an 18-5 win by Buck’s Party Store over the Negaunee Eagles, which got triples from Elaina Treloar and Ecko Popps.

In Class C, Tino’s kept a half-game lead with a 15-0 blanking of Marquette Embroidery. Tino’s Josey Moyle, who homered, and Alexis Forchini both went 3 for 4.

Casey Dugan homered twice as Yooper Shirts remained in second place with a 9-4 win over Red Rock Lanes, which got a homer from Rachel Scott.

U.P. Fabricating is just a game back after a 16-3 win over Wooden Nickel. Jessa Johnson hit two homers for the winners while Janet Ely was 3 for 3 and Kathy Zyble doubled for the Nickel.

Madison Pruett and Mollie Pruett both hit grand slam homers to power Palomaki Family Chiropractic to a 24-2 win over Xccelerated Fitness. PFC’s Kathy Gischia was the winning pitcher while Shirley Reno doubled for Xccelerated.

Kennen Marana homered twice and Colie Ball homered once in Rookies’ 20-4 win over Willey’s Tire Shop, which got a triple from Becky Grove.

Bertucci Construction doubled up Eastwood 8-4, while Venice 2 won by forfeit over Jack’s TeePee 2.
