Sentinels double up on the road

MARQUETTE — Hitting the road was twice as nice for the Marquette Senior High School girls tennis team on Thursday after the Sentinels went to Gladstone and edged the Braves 5-3, then traveled further south to Menominee and posted an 8-0 whitewash against the Maroons. Marquette has another of these two-meet road trips on Monday, playing at Kingsford at 11 a.m. EDT and at West Iron County at 3:30 p.m. EDT. Miners win 3-set matches to pull out victory

ISHPEMING — Winning both three-set matches spelled the difference for Negaunee in a 5-3 high school girls tennis victory at Westwood on Wednesday. The teams split the other six matches right down the middle, 3-3, but Miners No. 1 singles player Stella Lenten and NHS’ No. 1 doubles pairing of Paige O’Donnell and Olivia Richards each won their third and final sets to spell the difference in the meet.
