MSHS volleyball sweeps Flivvers

MARQUETTE — Seiler Hruska made 12 kills and Maria Millado 10 as Marquette Senior High School swept visiting Kingsford 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 in a Great Northern Conference volleyball match held Thursday.

Hruska also had two service aces, five digs and two blocks, while Millado contributed 11 digs and four blocks. Teammate Aspen Michelin added nine kills, six digs and two blocks, while Maiya King had 29 set assists, eight digs and two blocks and Tellena Nystrom had 14 digs.

“(This) was a big conference win for us,” said Redettes coach Ann Crandell-Williams, whose team improved to 12-2-2 overall and 2-0 in the GNC. “It was a tight match when we played them at Kingsford, so we knew not to underestimate them.

“Tellena had a great passing and digging night, and Maiya really spread out the offense well. Offensively, that’s the most balanced we’ve been this season.

“Teams … often prepare for Seiler, so having more offensive options with Aspen and Maria is great.”
