Redettes’ Trombley all-district

ESCANABA — Alexis Trombley of Marquette Senior High School was named to the all-tournament team after the MHSAA Division 2 district softball tournament held in Escanaba last weekend.

She was named as the utility player.

Marquette lost to Petoskey 9-2 in the opening round on May 28.

The tourney champion and host Eskymos landed five of the 13 positions on the team with pitcher Gabi Salo, rightfielder Lexi Chaillier, centerfielder Jalin Olson, first baseman Nicole Kamin and catcher Dakota Cloutier.

Kingsford’s Emily Curtis was named at third base while the Flivvers’ Maggie Strehlow earned an at-large position.

From Petoskey, which lost to Esky 7-1 in the finals, pitcher Aurora Sears, leftfielder Katie Buerkel and second baseman Arianna Phillips earned honors, as did Cheboygan’s Angie Swiderek at shortstop and Avery Nowosad at an at-large position.

After winning the district, the Eskymos went on to capture the regional title on Saturday in Petoskey.

Esky advanced to the Division 2 quarterfinals on Tuesday at Central Michigan University.
