NORWAY — Three players each from Munising and Superior Central earned boys basketball honors after Skyline Central Conference coaches voted on awards recently.

Three seniors received First Team honors from those schools — the Mustangs’ Alec Blank and Cade Contreras and SC’s Joe Heinonen.

Munising won the championship in the Large Schools Division that includes Bark River-Harris, Norway, Forest Park and Stephenson.

No area players were named to the Second Team, but Mustangs’ junior Anthony Mattson and Cougars’ junior Beau Rondeau made the All-Defensive Team.

In addition, SC senior Levi Charlebois was named to the honorable mention list.

Norway senior Connor Ortman, who averaged 19.4 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, was named Player of the Year. He’ll play collegiately at Lakeland University in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

Ryan Arndt of Bark River-Harris was named the top free-throw shooter, while Cam Willemsen of Rapid River and Ben Schultz of BR-H were the co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Forest Park and North Dickinson shared the Team Sportsmanship award, while Jordan Janofski of Carney-Nadeau earned the player sportsmanship award.

BR-H’s Jim VanEnkevort and Rapid River’s Rich Poma tied for Coach of the Year, while North Central won the Small Schools Division.

Among JV teams, BR-H won the Large Schools Division and RR the small schools.
