Marquette swimmers sweep I-N

MARQUETTE — Marquette recorded a sweep of Ishpeming-Negaunee in a high school swim meet held at the MSHS pool on Feb. 2.

Three Marquette swimmers were double winners in individual events as the Redmen and Redettes each won all three relays in their respective meets.

For the girls, who won 132-43, Lauren Rotundo won the 100-yard breaststroke and 200 individual medley, while Jayme Winn took the 50 and 100 freestyles. For the boys, 127-52 winners, Matt Nykanen swept the 50 and 100 free.

Other Marquette individual event winners were Ryan Glover, Ben Luke, Matt Kurin and Andrew Kilpela in the boys meet; and Paige Whaley, Gabrielle Gentz, Taryn Aho and Anna Patmore in the girls meet.

I-N had three winners, all in the boys meet — Ethan Wallner in the 200 free, Thomas Bagley in diving and Mitchell LaBelle in the 100 breast.
