MARQUETTE – After another strong season in 2018-19, the Northern Michigan University women’s golf team got a head start on this year as it recently announced its 2019-2020 schedule.

This season, the Wildcats will compete in nine meets in five different states.

The year begins with NMU heading downstate to Bay City where it will compete in the Saginaw Valley State Invitational September 14-15. The Wildcats then close out the month at the Lady Bulldog Invitational Sept. 28-29 in Big Rapids.

Northern opens up the next month with a trip to Ohio where it will tee off in the Beall Fall Classic, played at the Findlay Country Club Oct. 6-7.

The fall season ends with a trip across the state border to the Kohler Classic in Sheboygan, Wis. Oct. 21-22.

The spring portion of the Wildcats’ season begins March 4-6 with the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff in Tampa, Fla.

NMU heads back south again a few days later for the SVSU Spring Invitational Mar. 14-15 in Georgetown, Ky.

The following month, the Wildcats go back to Ohio for the NC4K Invitational April 6-7 in Blacklick. Northern will then remain in the state for the Walsh Invitational Apr. 11-12 in Canton.

NMU ends its regular season with the GLIAC Championships Apr. 17-19 downstate in Augusta at the Gull Lake View Golf Club.

Last year, the Wildcats qualified for the NCAA Regionals for the third year in a row and Caro Els became the first golfer in NMU history to reach the NCAA National Championships. A senior this year, Els was also an All-GLIAC First Team honoree last season.
