NMU dominates CCSA awards

MARQUETTE – All-Central Collegiate Ski Association awards went out to a dozen Northern Michigan University skiers, six men and six women. Eight of those occupy the 10 possible spots on the conference first team.

The Wildcats took all five spots on the men’s first team with Adam Martin, Ian Torchia, Jake Brown, Sam Elfstrom and Fredrik Schwencke. Krystof Kopal made the second team.

On the women’s side, Felicia Gesior, Vivian Hett and Sophie Schimpl made the first team, while Nicole Schneider, Caroline Brisbois and Sophie McDonald earned spots on the second team.

Northern won the College Cup at the U.S. Skiing Championships and both team titles at the CCSA Championships and NCAA Central Regional Championships.

NMU races at the NCAA National Championships March 7-12 in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, with Martin, Torchia, Brown, Schwencke, Gesior, Hett, Schimpl and Schneider all participating.
