9 Wildcats go to NCAA swim finals

MARQUETTE – Nine Northern Michigan University swimmers and divers are set to compete at the NCAA Division II National Championships from March 8-12 in Indianapolis.

Six women and three men have been chosen to compete. Rachel Borchardt and Ryan Knox-Leonard will both compete in four events. Borchardt will be in the 200-, 500-, 1,000- and 1,650-yard freestyle, while Knox-Leonard will be in the 200 and 400 individual medley, 200 free and 200 backstroke.

Three swimmers will each compete in three events. Crystal Bennet will swim in the 100 free, 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly. Savanna Saunders will compete in the 200 back, 200 IM and 400 IM. Marc Perello will swim in the 100 and 200 breast and 200 IM.

Other swimmers competing are Renars Bundzis in the men’s 100 and 200 back and Regan Kilburn in the women’s 100 back.

Two Wildcat divers will also compete as Molly Kearney and Angela Probstfeld will dive in the one-meter and three-meter competitions.
