DETROIT – Center Taylor Hodell recorded her second straight double-double but it wasn’t enough for the Northern Michigan University women’s basketball team to pull out a victory at Wayne State Thursday night.

Hodell had 13 points and 13 rebounds but the Warriors came back late in the fourth quarter to win 61-58. Bre Gaspervich led Northern scorers with 16 points.

The Wildcats (2-5, 1-2 GLIAC) held a 48-43 lead to start the fourth, but WSU (5-2, 1-2) came back to tie it at 52-52 before taking a seven-point lead with less than two minutes remaining.

NMU led 12-10 after the first quarter, but the Warriors held a 29-25 advantage with 1:22 left in the first half. Hodell put in a layup with 14 seconds left, but the Wildcats went into the break down 32-27.

Northern took the lead in the third quarter thanks to an 11-point run that included two treys from Tess Weatherly.

The Wildcats play at 1 p.m. today at Findlay.
