Wildcats earn road football victory, 35-17
CANTON, Ohio – The Northern Michigan University football team bounced back from last week’s heartbreaking loss with a resounding 35-17 win over Walsh.
Wildcats quarterback Shaye Brown was the star of the night as he set a school single-season record for touchdown passes. Brown threw four touchdowns in the game to give him the record of 23.
He completed 23 of 35 passes for 299 yards.
NMU (5-4, 4-4 GLIAC) got on the board early in the first minute of the game when Brown hit Keyondre Craig with a 37-yard touchdown pass.
After Walsh kicked a field goal, Brown hit Craig again for another score and before the end of the first quarter, the junior signal-caller found Marcus Tucker in the end zone to give the Wildcats a 21-3 lead.
Up 21-10 in the third quarter, Brown and Craig hooked up again, this time for a 35-yard touchdown. After Walsh pulled within 11 points of the Wildcats on a short touchdown run, NMU running back Aaron Harris clinched the win with a 15-yard score with 6:30 left in the fourth quarter.
Northern hosts Ferris State at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Superior Dome.
