NMU signs Minnesota skier

MARQUETTE – Zak Ketterson of Bloomington, Minnesota, has signed a national letter of intent to join the Nordic ski program at Northern Michigan University.

NMU head coach Sten Fjeldheim made the announcement Wednesday.

Ketterson won the 2014 Minnesota state championship and qualified for the 2015 World Junior Championships. The top-ranked U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association 1997-born skier for distance, sprint and overall, he placed third at the state championship meet during his freshman year at Jefferson High School, where he has competed at the varsity level since seventh grade.

Ketterson raced in the Scandic Cup, where he took sixth, and the Senior Nationals classic sprint, where he placed third.
