Guthrie leads Wildcat golfers
BELMONT – The Northern Michigan University women’s golf team placed sixth at the Battle in Belmont to conclude their inaugural fall season on Monday.
The Wildcats totaled 726 shots on rounds of 360 and 366, led by Karissa Guthrie’s 168 (84-84), good for a tie for 19th. Teammate Baylee Dunmire tied for 28th with 177 (86-91).
Grand Valley State had 624 to beat out Michigan State by eight strokes for the team crown. GV’s Gabrielle Shipley won the individual title with 153 (74-79) in an event held at Boulder Creek Golf Club and Blythefield Country Club just north of Grand Rapids.
