NMU names 3 hockey captains
MARQUETTE – The Northern Michigan University men’s hockey team has announced three juniors will serve as captains next season.
They are Dominik Shine, Shane Sooth and Brock Maschmeyer.
Shine, a forward, ranked third on the team with 20 points.
Sooth, also a forward, was one of five Wildcats to play in all 38 games and finished second on the team with 21 points.
Maschmeyer, a defenseman, led NMU with nine goals and finished tied for third with 20 points.
The Wildcats finished last season 14-18-6.
“I feel really comfortable with this group,” Wildcats head coach Walt Kyle said. “These guys are going to be juniors and have all played a ton early in their careers. They are guys that all know the values of the program and the direction we are headed.”
