MARQUETTE – Senior forward Chavis Mattison of the Northern Michigan University men’s basketball team has been named the Player of the Week for the GLIAC North Division.

He earned the honor after recording a pair of double-doubles over the weekend when NMU split a pair of games.

Mattison opened with a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds against Lake Superior State. Then he scored a game-high 28 points and grabbed another 10 rebounds in an overtime victory over Northwood.

Mattison finished the weekend shooting 16 of 23 (.696) from the field and going 14 of 15 (.933) from the free-throw line.

The double-doubles were his third and fourth of the season. Mattison currently leads the team with 6.6 rebounds per game.
