Ex-USOEC boxer in trouble again
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) – Champion middleweight boxer Jermain Taylor, who already faces charges in an August shooting, will be charged in a separate incident after a man told authorities Taylor fired a gun at him, police in Arkansas said Monday.
The Little Rock Police Department said that the man also told officers responding to a report of shots fired that Taylor pointed a gun at his wife and children.
Taylor trained at the U.S. Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University and was a bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney.
Officers took the 36-year-old Taylor into custody without incident Monday afternoon and found he had a gun and a small amount of marijuana, according to a police report.
Police spokesman Sidney Allen said Taylor will face charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of marijuana.
A clerk at the Pulaski County jail said Taylor was booked Monday night.
Taylor won the International Boxing Federation middleweight title in October.
