Bowling leagues looking for new members

MARQUETTE — Bowling leagues are organizing for the upcoming fall and winter season at bowling centers in Ishpeming and Marquette. Both the leagues themselves and their host centers encourage prospective individual bowlers or full teams to sign up for leagues, as leagues often have room for more teams and already-established teams are on the lookout to fill out rosters. With just one exception, each of 10 leagues between the two centers will start their seasons in the week following Labor Day, with the schedule generally lasting from 28 to 32 weeks until early to mid-spring. Marquette, Westwood get wins, ties

MARQUETTE — Maybe ties aren’t so bad if you spend most of the rest of your time winning. You can still have an undefeated record, for one thing. Marquette tied a pair of high school girls tennis meets 4-4 over two days earlier this week, but also won their other match during a two-meet road trip on Monday. Meanwhile, Westwood also picked up a victory, though it only needed one meet to achieve that.
