Miners finish dual meet season with win

NEGAUNEE — Negaunee pulled off a 6-2 home victory over Kingsford on Thursday in the final dual meet of the high school girls tennis season for the Miners. Sentinels dominate finals to capture GNC meet

MARQUETTE — Marquette Senior High School put its stamp on the Great Northern Conference meet in the championship matches, winning five of the six it was entered in to capture this high school girls tennis title on Wednesday. Playing on its home courts, the Sentinels scored 34 points to 28 for runner-up Escanaba. Gladstone was third with 21, followed by Kingsford with 20, West Iron County 10 and Menominee seven. Ballard, MSHS boys dominate at El Harger cross country

MUNISING — Senior Lucas Ballard was just as dominant individually as his Marquette Senior High School team was in the boys meet at the El Harger Invitational in high school cross country held Wednesday afternoon at Pictured Rocks Golf Club in Munising. Ballard won his race by what was approaching two full minutes in 15 minutes, 56.1 seconds. Runner-up Ashdeyn Gerow of Mid-Peninsula was well back in 17:44.0.
