NMU hosts Wisconsin-Parkside at 5 p.m. Friday, then hits the road for a match in Sault Ste. Marie to face Upper Peninsula rival Lake Superior State at 4 p.m. Saturday.
That starts a six-game road swing for the Wildcats, though the last three will technically be at the neutral-site Midwest Crossover in Hammond, Indiana, on Oct. 16-17.
Northern's next home match after Friday is at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23, vs. Ferris State.
The Wildcats are part of a three-team logjam in the middle of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. NMU sports 6-8 overall and 3-3 conference records, while Parkside is a half-game up on Northern at 10-4 and 4-3 GLIAC in fourth place.
LSSU is 3-11 and 0-6 GLIAC, actually a half-game ahead of last-place 0-7 Purdue Northwest.
Last week, the Wildcats pulled out a five-set home victory over Michigan Tech on Sept. 20, the fourth straight time they've defeated the Huskies, each time in five sets.
On Saturday, they traveled to league coleader Grand Valley State and lost in three sets.

"We're excited to play competitive volleyball and on our home court," Wildcats associate head coach Kamryn Duffield said in an NMU Sports Information news release previewing the matches. "Our conference top to bottom is really competitive, and we have to make sure we are prepared and playing our brand of volleyball."
In the MTU match last week, Northern's Kaylie McIntosh set a career high with 28 kills as the teams alternated winning sets throughout. Allie Barlow also had a season-high 61 assists.
Against Grand Valley, McIntosh again led NMU with 13 kills as Laynie Russell had 11.
