Patron, Christensen knock ‘em out of park for Phil and Lee’s

NEGAUNEE -- Karlie Patron and Nicole Christensen put on their power-hitting shoes and cranked home runs over the fence to lift Phil and Lee's to an 8-4 victory over Congress Pizzas in a Class A game in the Iron Range Women's Softball League on Wednesday.

Phil and Lee's held onto the top spot in "A" with the win with a 9-1 record as second-place River Rock is 9-2 and Congress Pizzas dropped to third at 8-3.

Chelsie Kienitz, who went 3 for 3, and Sophia Nerlfi, who was 2 for 2, each doubled for Congress.

In another "A" game, Morgan Carlson, Delany McLaughlin and Alyssa Hill all homered to lift River Rock to an 18-6 triumph over Jasper Ridge Brewery, whose Brittany Singer also hit a roundtripper.

Macey Nault homered and Faith Toutant tripled to pace Dave's Collision/Jack's to a narrow 16-13 victory over Pasquali's, whose Mikayla Miilu homered.

Nolia Dawson cracked a four-bagger as LaCosse & Associates banged out a 25-12 win over Tino's, whose Taryn Myers and Lauren Saldana both tripled.

In Class B, Des Cervantes smacked a grand slam as the Eagles held onto the top position with a 24-9 win over Pineshears.

The winners' Jojo West was 6 for 7 and Olivia Negilski 5 for 6, while Pineshears' Livvie Denofre hit a grand slam, and Chelsey Wunder, who was 5 for 6, and Casey Dugan each hit homers.

Also in "B," Katy Metivier was 4 for 4 and Becky Lee and Jen Laurila both 3 for 3 as Dee's Nuts downed Paradise Bar 12-8. Dee's remained just one back of the Eagles in the loss column.

Paradise Bar was led by Hailey Hytinen with a pair of homers, Katie Mitchell a triple, and Kelsey Clark and Kathy Maynard each going 3 for 4.

Lindsay Williams went 6 for 6, while Beckey Grove was 4 for 5 as she and Chastity Hudson homered in a 22-13 win posted by Willey's Tire Shop over Barron's Auto Repair.

Katie Tonge, who homered, Jenni Quayle and Lola Korpi all went 4 for 4 to lead Palomaki Family Chiropractic to a 23-6 victory over Signs Unlimited, whose Nicole Chapman and Nikki Prusi each were 3 for 3.

Quality Car Care received a bye.
