Hill, McLaughlin homer in River Rock’s victory

ISHPEMING -- Alyssa Hill and Delaney McLaughlin both homered to help River Rock squeak past Dave's Collision/Jack's 17-16 in a Class A game played in the Iron Range Women's Softball League on July 29.

In this, the 10th week of the summer season, Melanee Maddock hit a triple for Dave's/Jack's.

In another "A" contest, Ellie Miller went 4 for 4 with a triple and double to lead Phil and Lee's past Jasper Ridge Brewery 24-9.

The winners' Nicole Christensen, who tripled, and Karlie Patron, who doubled, both were 3 for 4, while Jasper's Lyndsay Bleau was 2 for 2 with a double as teammates Gabby Hebert and Ciara Kangas each went 2 for 3.

Dindy Cousineau was 5 for 5 with two RBIs and Sara Polini 4 for 5 with three RBIs as Congress Pizzas pulled off a 28-18 triumph over Pasquali's, whose Nolia Dawson was 4 for 5 with a homer.

Taryn Myers and Josey Castello were credited with great hitting in Tino's 24-21 nailbiter over Pasquali's, whose Alana Nuorala homered.

In Class B, Katie Mitchell and Kylie Tobias both were 5 for 5 to lead Paradise Bar to an 18-12 win over Pineshears.

Mitchell hit a homer and two doubles, while Tobias had a double. Paradise's Jennifer Hytinen-Polkki was 4 for 5, while teammate Hailey Hytinen homered and Erin Swenor tripled.

For Pineshears, Toni Tikkanen was 4 for 4 with a homer and triple, Heidi Verville homered and Andria Corcoran was credited with playing great defense.

Also in "B," Gina Debelak and Joanna Smail each took advantage of a lot of at-bats, both going 7 for 7, as Quality Car Care drove past Barron's Auto Repair 37-10.

The winners' Connie Kontio was also 6 for 6 with a triple and six runs scored, while Barron's Addy Duphy, who doubled, and Sierrah Hallum both were 2 for 3.

Brianna Bauer was 4 for 4 with a triple and double as the Eagles flew past Palomaki Family Chiropractic 27-7.

The Eagles' Olivia Negilski, who hit two doubles, and Des Cervantes, who homered, each went 3 for 3, while Palomaki's Terri Todd was 2 for 2 and Mallory Pruett-Shank tripled.

Courtney Beauchamp was 3 for 3 and Nichi Sundberg was said to have "3 Ks to tie the game" as Dee's Nuts squeezed by Signs Unlimited 11-10.

Signs' Sandy Carlson went 4 for 4 while Linda Dompierre homered.

Willey's Tire Shop received a bye.
