Majority of ’27 U.P. inductees have direct ties to Marquette County

CORNELL -- The Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame, through its 23-member council, chose its 10-member induction class for 2027 at its recent annual meeting.

The 55th annual induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 8, at the Island Resort and Casino in Harris, about 15 miles west of Escanaba. Details, including ticket information, are due in early 2027, according to a news release from the UPSHF on Tuesday.

A majority of the inductees, six of the 10, have direct ties to The Mining Journal coverage area, specifically Marquette County.

They are Gordy Chinn of Ishpeming, John Croze of Ishpeming, Mike Ludlum of Negaunee, Kevin Luke of Ishpeming, Troy Mattson of Ishpeming and John McCormick of Marquette.

The other inductees are Kelly Jean Allen of Kingsford, Don Carlson of Kingsford, Angela Guisfredi of Hubbell and Charles Lucchesi of Hancock.

Full biographies are set to be released by the start of October, according to UPSHF executive secretary Anne Okonek.
