MARQUETTE -- The deadline is now less than a month away for purchasing tickets for the annual banquet that will induct the 2026 class into the Northern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame.
Tickets are on sale through Friday, Sept. 11, for the banquet to be held the following Friday, Sept. 18, at the Northern Center Ballrooms on campus in Marquette.
In addition to five individuals and a Wildcats team being inducted into the hall of fame, the group's newly established Ring of Honor will initiate its first inductee, longtime U.S. Olympic Education Center boxing coach Al Mitchell, who also coached in the Summer Olympics.
The NMU Sports Hall of Fame inductees are wrestler and football coach Bernie Anderson, women's swimmers Rachel Helm and Kirsten Namesnik Silvester, women's track and field athlete Shayla Manitowabi, volleyball coach Mark Rosen and the 1979 Northern women's field hockey team.
The induction events open with a cash bar available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., with a buffet dinner at 6:30 p.m. and induction ceremony scheduled for 7 p.m.
All the inductees will also be honored at the Wildcats' homecoming football game the following day, Saturday, Sept. 19, against Davenport. Game time is 1 p.m.
Tickets are $40 for the general public and $20 for children ages 12 and under. They are available for purchase at the NMU Ticket Office online at the NMU Tickets website, nmu.universitytickets.com. They can also be purchased in person at the Superior Dome ticket office.
