U.P. Sports Hall to hold golf scramble at Wawonowin

CHAMPION — Space is limited to 36 teams, but registration is now open for the annual four-person golf scramble put on by the Upper Peninsula Sports Hall of Fame.

This fundraising event takes place on Sunday, July 26, at Wawonowin Country Club in Champion. Registration closes on Wednesday, July 22.

Teams of four can be any combination of men and women, with a team entry fee of $400 that includes 18 holes of golf, dinner and cash prizes. Golf carts are also available to rent for $50 each.

With a shotgun shot at 10 a.m., the event supports the work of the U.P. Sports Hall of Fame, including four $1,000 scholarships given annually to graduating seniors from U.P. high schools.

This year’s scholarship recipients were Dylan Adkinson of Munising, Ashley Carlson of Norway, Jack Kriegl of Kingsford and Emma Besonen of Ewen-Trout Creek.

For nongolfers who would like to support the UPSHF, hole sponsorships are available for $100 to advertise your business or share a message of support. Donations are also gratefully accepted.
