NMU Hall of Fame induction: Tickets now on sale for Sept. 18 banquet

MARQUETTE — Tickets are now on sale for the Northern Michigan University Sports Hall of Fame banquet that will be held on campus on Friday, Sept. 18.

The NMU Athletics Department will be welcoming five individuals and a Wildcats’ team into the hall, plus its inaugural inductee into the newly established Ring of Honor.

The hall of fame inductees are football coach and wrestler Bernie Anderson, Rachel Helm and Kirsten Namesnik Silvester of the women’s swimming and diving team, Shayla Manitowabi of the women’s track and field team, volleyball coach Mark Rosen, and the 1979 women’s field hockey team.

The initial inductee into NMU’s new Ring of Honor is former U.S. Olympic Education Center boxing coach Al Mitchell.

The ceremony will be held in the Northern Center Ballrooms, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., a cash bar available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., a buffet dinner served at 6:30 p.m. and the induction ceremony to commence at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $40 for the general public and $20 for children ages 12 and under. They will be on sale through Sept. 11 at the NMU Ticket Office online at nmu.universitytickets.com, or in person at the Berry Events Center through July 19 and at the Superior Dome beginning July 20.
