Negilski, Cervantes lead Eagles to victory

ISHPEMING — Olivia Negilski tripled and homered while going 4 for 5 as teammate Des Cervantes was 5 for 5 to lead the Eagles to a 20-8 win over Willey’s Tire Shop in a Class B game in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday.

Willey’s Brooke Mitchell went 4 for 4 and Karah Steele 3 for 3.

Also in Class B, Toni Tikkanen smacked a grand slam homer while going 5 for 5 as Pineshears put up a 29-3 triumph over Palomaki Family Chiropractic.

The winners’ Amber Tuominen and Heidi Verville both doubled while going 4 for 4 as teammate Livvie Denofre tripled.

Palomaki’s Terri Todd was 2 for 2 with a double.

Dana Quinnell and Teresa Holdread led Barron’s Auto Repair to its first win of the season in a 15-10 victory over second-place Paradise Bar.

With the winners also being credited for all-around great hitting and fielding, Quinnell, who doubled, and Holdread each went 3 for 3, while Paradise’s Mariah Heard and Katie Mitchell both tripled.

Kaitlyn Lammi homered, tripled and doubled as Quality Car Care defeated Signs Unlimited 16-9.

QCC’s Lori Ring, Connie Kontio and Michelle Lammi each went 4 for 4, while Signs’ Erin Carlson and Jill Sladek both were 2 for 3 as Nicole Chapman and Nikki Maki each hit a triple.

Dee’s Nuts had a bye.

In Class A, Brittany Singer homered to help Jasper Ridge Brewery get past Congress Pizzas 11-7.

The winners’ Ciara Kangas, LeAnn Saarela and Amber Emanuelson all went 4 for 4, while Congress’ Chelsie Wealton had three hits.

Also in “A,” Karlie Patron, Tia Mattila and Jackie Skradski were all credited with great pitching in Phil and Lee’s 31-5 victory over Pasquali’s, which saw Tayler Gray, who had an RBI, and Thalicia DelAngelo each go 2 for 3 as Carlie Root was credited with “amazing” defense.

Nicolette Schultz hit a homer to lead LaCosse & Associates to a 15-9 win over Dave’s Collision/Jack’s, whose Sinead Korvela also homered.

River Rock posted a 19-5 victory over Tino’s.
