MARQUETTE — The annual Veterans Day for American Legion baseball teams based out of Marquette will be held Tuesday afternoon at Gerard Haley Memorial Baseball Field in north Marquette.
The Legion Post 44 Blues and Legion Post 44 Reds both play at 5:30 p.m. at adjoining fields, the older Blues facing Menominee on Haley Field and younger Reds going against Norway on Field 1, both at the same general site on Presque Isle Avenue.
The D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans will transport veterans from its facility at 4:45 p.m. with several pregame ceremonies scheduled.
The Post 44 teams were renamed from “Marquette” several years ago when outlying areas away from Marquette were also included on the team rosters.
Each veteran will received a free bratwurst, hot dog or hamburger at the games as part of the celebration.
Families are encouraged to attend to cheer on their local teams while recognizing veterans for their service to our country.
Admission is free.
