With the MHSAA website listing the Sentinels having a 25-10 record, Marquette couldn’t break into any of the special awards won by league teams.
Instead, though, the Sentinels placed three players on the First Team and three more on the Second Team, their seventh honoree getting onto Honorable Mention.
Six of the seven can return next year, with only one honoree a senior.
Marquette’s First Team players were junior pitcher Charlye Swajanen, sophomore infielder Lauren Johnson and freshman catcher Maddy Havel.
For the Sentinels on the Second Team were senior outfielder Alexa Whaley and junior infielders Eva Dewitt and Samantha Trapani.
MSHS’ Honorable Mention went to sophomore Ava Hanford.
The GNC’s five special awards were split among three teams, Escanaba seniors leading the way with Landry Bray as Player of the Year, Chloe Dubord as Offensive Player of the Year, and Harlee Coolman as Defensive Player of the Year.
A pair of juniors earned the other awards, Kingsford’s Mya Brunswick as Pitcher of the Year and Menominee’s Sadie Betzinger as Catcher of the Year.
