Junior attacker Josie Lakosky was among 128 women’s lacrosse players in NCAA Division II to be named to an All-Region team by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association.
The all-time, record-holding Wildcat in just about every non-goaltending season mark, Lakosky was named to the Midwest Region First Team by the coaches’ group. That makes her eligible for inclusion on the national IWLCA All-American Team that will be announced for Division II on Wednesday.
Lakosky had a season to remember this past winter and spring, finishing the 19-game schedule with the No. 1 season in the decade-long program’s history, totaling 105 goals and 43 assists for 148 points, adding in 179 shots on goal, 54 ground balls, 34 caused turnovers and 126 draw controls. Every one of those numbers is an NMU single-season record.
Northern’s 13-6 overall campaign began with her scoring 15 goals and recording five assists for 20 points in a two-game, season-opening weekend at her home Superior Dome in mid-February.

That drew the first of five Offensive Player of the Week honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during the season.
Her four other GLIAC weekly honors came over the final six weeks of the regular season, including back-to-back National Player of the Week awards from the IWLCA, too, on April 7 and 14. The first national honor came after eight goals and 11 points in one game, the other when she matched Northern’s one-game goals and points record while matching the season goals record, too.
Lakosky has now pulled even for the Wildcats’ career goals record of 219, done in 16 fewer games and with her entire senior season left to play.
With NMU reaching the GLIAC Tournament championship game for the fourth consecutive year, she was honored as GLIAC Attacker of the Year and named to the All-GLIAC First Team, both for the second straight season.
Also at the end of the season, Lakosky emerged as Division II’s leader in goals, goals per game, points and points per game, while finishing second in shots and shots on goal per game.
