NMU to host youth hockey camp in August
MARQUETTE — As part of its Northern Michigan University Sports Camps series, NMU Hockey Camp 2026 will be held over five consecutive days in the first half of August at the Berry Events Center on campus.
The camp will be held from Monday through Friday, Aug. 10-14, and be led by Wildcats hockey coaches and players.
“Our goal is to provide a fun learning environment for campers to improve their skills and provide local players the opportunity to gain instruction from high level coaches and college hockey players,” the school’s ticketing website for this camp states. “Additionally, campers will get to participate in various off-ice activities designed to introduce them to basic off-ice training methods while also enjoying games.”
Players will receive two hours of on-ice instruction each day, in addition to a number of off-ice activities, with the school noting that a more detailed itinerary will be sent out closer to the start of the camp.
All campers will receive an NMU Hockey Camp jersey and shirt.
Each day’s activities start between 8 and 9 a.m. and end between 3 and 4 p.m., which varies by age group.
Cost is $500 per camper, with a minimum non-refundable processing fee of $25 for cancellations.
Age group classification is by birth year and 2026-27 hockey age group — those born from 2018 to 2020 are in Mites, birth years 2016-17 in Squirts and 2014-15 in PeeWees. These classes are subject to change depending on enrollment.
Each camper is asked daily to bring lunch and snacks, a water bottle, full hockey equipment and clothing, a stick for off-ice stick handling, and clothing for off-ice activities.
Camp employees won’t be responsible for dressing players or locker room supervision, and there will be a private female locker room available.
Registration closes one week prior to the start of the camp.
