Doney knocks one out of the park for Dave’s-Jack’s

ISHPEMING — Libbie Doney knocked a home run out of the park to lead Dave’s Collision-Jack’s to a 27-2 victory over Tino’s in a Class A game in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League on Wednesday, the second week of the season.

Teammate Sinead Korvela went 5 for 5 and Macey Nault 4 for 5, while Tino’s Taryn Myers hit a triple.

Also in Class A, Terri Tammelin and Tia Mattila each went 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles as Phil and Lee’s blanked LaCosse & Associates 18-0.

Tammelin also hit a triple, while LaCosse’s Jordan Kowalski was 3 for 3 and Lexi Pomplon 2 for 3.

Gabby Hebert homered to support a well-pitched game by LeAnn Saarela as Jasper Ridge Brewery posted an 18-9 victory over Pasquali’s, whose Madison Berry homered.

Delaney McLaughlin tripled in River Rock’s 16-7 win over Congress Pizzas, which got a pair of doubles and two RBIs from Katie Rankinen.

In Class B, Jess Geist and Chantel Fernandez each went 4 for 4 to lead the Eagles past Palomaki Family Chiropractic 23-6.

Teammate Ecko Popps was 3 for 4 and Olivia Negilski 2 for 3 as Geist and Negilski both homered, Popps hit two triples, and Fernandez doubled.

Palomaki’s Val Prusi went 2 for 2 while Terri Todd homered.

In another “B” encounter, Hailey Hytinen, Kylie Tobias, Mariah Heard and Katie Mitchell all went 3 for 3 as Paradise Bar slid past Pineshears 14-8.

Hytinen had a homer among her hits, while Tobias had a double. Pineshears’ Livvie Denofre, who cranked three doubles, and Amber Tuominen both were 4 for 4, while teammate Toni Tikkanen was 3 for 4 with a homer.

Katelyn Lammi hit a pair of homers while going 4 for 4 as Quality Car Care blasted past Barron’s Auto Repair 27-4.

The winners’ Connie Kontio and Lori Ring each homered, while Barron’s Katie Duquette and Lexi Hallum each went 2 for 2 and Sierrah Hallum was 2 for 3.

Leah Dompierre went 5 for 5 and Angie Juidici 3 for 4 with a homer as Signs Unlimited posted a 23-11 win over Dee’s Nuts, whose Jolene Silva was 3 for 3 and Taylor Jackovich 2 for 3 with a homer.

Willey’s Tire Shop had a bye.
