Wildcats host youth, adult soccer tourneys in July

MARQUETTE — The men’s and women’s soccer teams at Northern Michigan University are sponsoring youth and adult soccer tournaments on Saturday and Sunday, July 11-12, at the NMU Soccer Fields on Wright Street in Marquette.

The 3-on-3 Youth Tournament features eight age-based divisions — Under-9 Coed, U-10 Girls, U-10 Boys, U-12 Girls, U-12 Boys, U-14 Girls, U-14 Boys and High School Coed.

Team registration is $200 per team, with a minimum three and maximum six players per squad without a goalkeeper.

Each team will play at least three games with a chance of additional games for playoffs and/or a championship match. Each game will be 24 minutes.

You can visit https://nmu.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=3967 to register online for any of the youth divisions.

The 5-on-5 Adult Tournament welcomes everyone 18 years and older who is not in high school. Coed teams can register with up to 10 players on the roster, while teams will consist of four field players and a goalkeeper during play.

All teams must have at least one female player on the field at all times. If a team does not have a female player on the field, they must play a player down during that time. Teams that have only one female will play a player down for remaining games if the female participant can no longer compete.

You can visit https://nmu.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=3968 to register online for this tournament.

Registration deadline is 4 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 1. Check-in for both tournaments is one hour before the start of the first match.

Once registered, email natphill@nmu.edu with your team name and roster. Waivers will be emailed and must be completed by every participant before the start of the tournament. For more information, email NMU women’s soccer assistant coach Nate Phillips at natphill@nmu.edu.
